The Helford River is a delightful unspoilt estuary stretching from the outer edge of Falmouth Bay up to the old port of Gweek. 

Taking a different route up the river leads to Polwheveral creek and  Goongillings Farm is a peninsula with boundaries marked out by Polwheveral Creek and Polpenwith.  The two creeks meet at Scotts Quay, beautiful for swimming, boating or just enjoying the peace and quiet. 

Towards the mouth of the river the Ferry Boat Inn and Helford Sailing Club offer delicious food and a variety of beers.  Situated opposite each other, both restaurants offer fantastic views of the river. 

Close to the Ferryboat, on the north side of the river are two beautiful gardens Trebah and Glendurgan: these can be reached on foot in a pleasant afternoons walk or a short car journey.  Heading in the other direction from the farm takes you to Gweek, where the Seal Sanctuary provides the opportunity to observe rescued seals.
