The best way to find us is to use a map to navigate to Constantine which is between Falmouth and Helston, about 12 miles south west of Truro. Depending on your driving speed and traffic we are about two hours from Exeter. Use the A30 which is now a fast road nearly to Truro, turning off for Truro onto the A39 right by a large windfarm. From Truro use the map to find Constantine via the A39, A394 and Mabe Burnthouse. There is no need to go to Falmouth or Penryn , and Constantine is signed from several places on the A394. If you get to Helston you’ve gone too far!
Probably the simplest way (there are several!) is to head towards Falmouth on the A39 along a big distributor road which goes past the corner of the new University, a big Asda, then on to Hillhead roundabout (full of cannons and other metalwork) from where Constantine is signed at each stage – first right, first left, and then about 5 more miles, arriving in Constantine up a long hill.
From Constantine take the road towards Gweek (a left turn near the top of the village as you come up the main street, just past the Spar shop) which wriggles out of the village for about half a mile until you see a sign for the Trengilly Wartha Inn – a left turn at a grassy triangle with a signpost to Nancenoy and Polwheveral. Take this turning and go down a long hill for about 500 yards. When you pass the entrance to the pub on the left at the bottom of the hill you are within 150 yards of our cottage, where you can collect the keys. It lies on the right hand side just over a small bridge, just as the road starts to go uphill again. It is end on to the road and is marked Goongillings Cottage. From our cottage, the farmyard is reached by carrying on for about 200 yards up a steepish hill and is the first entrance on the right at the top of the hill between two buildings one of which has a sign ‘Goongillings’. (The entrance is a bit awkward when you try it for the first time, so take it wide!) The Barn is facing you as you drive into the yard, while the Flower House forms the left hand side of the gate as you enter the yard, and Bens forms the right hand side. The Farmhouse is the large white house on the left as you enter the yard. There are no signs on the cottages. If by any chance there is no-one around at our cottage, the keys of your cottage will be in the door so make yourself at home and we’ll come along later to see that everything is OK.
If you have a detailed map, we are about one mile due south of Constantine, between the hamlets of Polwheveral and Nancenoy, at the top a steep hill on the minor road which runs from Gweek to Port Navas. If you are lost, most people know where the Trengilly Wartha is.
SATNAV: A satnav will direct you along a different, slightly shorter, and extremely narrow lane for the last mile or so, missing out Constantine. This route is fine for cars but it is intimidatingly narrow. Don’t say we didn’t warn you! The postcode is TR11 5RP
