Trengilly Wartha
Just two minutes walk down the hill is our lovely family and everybody friendly pub where you can enjoy a drink and a tasty meal. In winter you can also join in on quiz night or folk night and Will and Lisa are always thinking up new ideas to brighten up our lives.
The Village
Ten minutes walk away, uphill but with a lovely view at the top is Constantine our local village.
We are very lucky here in having a thriving village with a Spar shop (8am-9pm most days) which stocks an incredible range of foodstuffs, newspapers, fresh bread. We also have Constantine Stores, a general store and the most amazing off-license: an Aladdins Cave for amazed holiday makers. We also have a hairdressers and Lyrebird a fascinating shop run by a young local dressmaker and full of handmade and retro objects of desire.
Friday and Saturday mornings until 2pm a trio of enterprising ladies have set up a little bakery in their garden shed selling artisan breads, savouries and delicious cakes. It’s called Crumbs, but there won’t be any left. Follow the bunting to find it.
The Tolmen Centre
This is another feature of the village, our local Arts and Social Centre.
Downstairs there is a weekly cafe on Thursday lunchtimes in term time and upstairs there is an amazing theatre where we show fortnightly films on Wednesdays and are lucky enough to have fantastic theatre groups visiting us from time to time. You can check the program on tolmencentre.co.uk. On film and theatre nights the cafe is open for pre show meals but booking is essential.(01326 341353).
Potager and The Waymarker
These are two local cafes with homemade food which are ideal if you feel like a good long walk with a reward at the end. Check their websites for opening times.
